Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating a Fourposts account, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The Service

Fourposts is a college application tracking platform. Tutors and counselors use it to manage student rosters and monitor application progress. Students use it to track their college applications, scholarships, and recommendations. Parents use it to follow their student's progress through a read-only connection.

3. Your Account

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. One account per person. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

Tutor and counselor accounts are free. We believe tutors are the backbone of the college application process, and we will never charge them to use Fourposts.

4. Roles and Permissions

Fourposts has three roles, each with distinct permissions:

• Tutor / Counselor — You can create invite links, build a roster of connected students, and view application progress for students who have accepted your invite. Your access is always read-only. You cannot modify a student's data.
• Student — You own all your data. You control which tutors and parents can see your progress. You can revoke any connection at any time. You decide your sharing level (basic or full).
• Parent / Guardian — You have read-only access to your student's progress, granted by your student. Your student can revoke your access at any time.

5. Student Data Ownership

Students own their data. This is a core principle of Fourposts, enforced at the database level:

• Only students can change what is shared with tutors and parents.
• Students can revoke any tutor's or parent's access instantly.
• Tutors and parents see only what connected students have chosen to share.
• Deleting a student account permanently removes all their data, including data visible to connected tutors and parents.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Access student data without a proper, accepted connection.
• Impersonate another user or misrepresent your role.
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export data from the platform.
• Use the service to harass, stalk, or intimidate any user.
• Attempt to circumvent security controls, row-level security policies, or access controls.
• Use the platform for any purpose other than managing college and scholarship applications.

7. Pricing

Fourposts offers a free tier with core features. Pro features for students and families may require a paid subscription. Tutor accounts are always free.

If we change pricing, we will give at least 30 days notice. Price changes do not apply retroactively to active subscription periods.

8. Intellectual Property

Opus Vita owns the Fourposts platform, brand, and software. You retain full ownership of all data you enter into Fourposts. We do not claim any rights to your application data, essays, or personal information.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. When you do, all your data is permanently removed as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable. If we terminate your account without cause, we will provide at least 30 days notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

Fourposts is provided “as is.” While we work hard to keep the platform reliable and secure, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Opus Vita is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 CAD, whichever is greater.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Fourposts after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
